NFA Attends Early Morning Fatal Fire

The National Fire Authority (NFA) attended to a house fire this morning at Temple Road Velovelo, Lautoka which destroyed a three bedroom concrete house, resulting in the death of a 38-year-old man.

At 2.24am, NFA Lautoka received a fire call and immediately responded with two fire appliances. Upon arrival at 2.30am, the house was found fully engulfed in flames. The Fire Crews utilized water line deliveries from the two fire trucks to extinguish the fire.

The house belonged to two brothers who were both asleep at the time of the fire. The elder brother was alerted by smell of smoke and heat but unfortunately the younger brother was trapped in his bedroom.

The Fire Crews saved adjacent houses. NFA investigations are underway to determine the cause of the fire.

Established by virtue of the National Fire Service Act, 1994 the National Fire Authority assumed responsibilities to provide fire services for the entire nation of Fiji in February 1995.
