NFA attends Lautoka school fire

National Fire Authority (NFA) attended to a fire incident in Lautoka last night

At 7.10pm, Lautoka Fire Station received a fire emergency call at the Ami Chandra Primary School and immediately responded.

Upon arrival at 7.19pm, the Fire Team saw the middle section of the building which consists of library, storeroom and classrooms fully engulfed in flames.

The Fire Team used water from the fire trucks and also used fire hydrant in the area to extinguish the fire.

The strong wind at that time resulted in the fire spreading quickly to other classrooms which were attached in the same building. The Fire Team bravely fought the fire and were able to contain the fire in the middle section of the building and stopped it from spreading to other four classrooms, administration office and staff room.

Destroyed in the fire were four classrooms, library and a storeroom.

NFA fire investigations have started to determine the cause of the fire.

Established by virtue of the National Fire Service Act, 1994 the National Fire Authority assumed responsibilities to provide fire services for the entire nation of Fiji in February 1995.
