The role of National Fire Authority’s services has broadened significantly from its traditional role of firefighting to emergency services. The quality of our response to fires and emergencies determines the impact of the emergency event to life, property and the environment. The NFA recognizes the need to continually enhance its service delivery model to meet the growing expectations of Government and the Fijian public.
The essential services provided by the National Fire Authority no longer just involves firefighting but they are also skilled in :
- Responding to road accident rescue operations
- Hazardous materials response and rescue operations
- Flood and swift water rescue operations
- Providing emergency ambulance services and first aid assistance and
- Carrying out urban search rescues operations.
The NFA also provides fire training in a number of areas for businesses and private industries. There are a range of fire safety skills that can be gained through this formal training including emergency warden training and the proper and effective use of fire equipment. These trainings are designed to help the business owners to attend to fire incidents as first responders before the NFA arrives at the fire scene.
