NFA attends Seaqaqa Post Office and house fire in Rakiraki


The National Fire Authority (NFA) attended to the Seaqaqa Post Office fire last night.

At 1827hrs, Labasa Fire Station received a fire call and immediately responded. Upon arrival at 1900hrs, the Fire Team saw the Seaqaqa Post Office fully engulfed in flames. The Fire Team used water from the fire truck and also sourced water from the fire hydrant in the area to extinguish the fire.

NFA investigation is underway to determine the cause of the fire.

Meanwhile, Rakiraki Fire Station Fire Team extinguished a lean-to corrugated iron and timber structured house fire at Vatukacevaceva in Rakiraki last night.

Rakiraki Fire Station received a fire emergency call at 2057hrs and immediately responded to the fire all. Upon arrival at 2108hrs, The Fire Team saw the house fully engulfed in flames.

Fire Team extinguished the fire and stopped it from spreading to the nearby houses in the area.

The house was vacant at the time of the fire.NFA investigation is underway to determine the cause of the fire.

Established by virtue of the National Fire Service Act, 1994 the National Fire Authority assumed responsibilities to provide fire services for the entire nation of Fiji in February 1995.
