The National Fire Authority (NFA) is advising parents and guardians to be mindful of their children’s safety during the school holidays that has now been extended.
The National Fire Authority urges all parents and guardians to supervise their children during the school holidays and practice fire safety.
It is important parents take the lead role in teaching their children fire safety. There have been previous cases where the lack of supervision of children has caused home fires and our advice to all parents is to look after their children and keep them safe during the holidays.
Children can be curious about fire and it is your responsibility as parents to keep all fire ignition sources like matches and lighters well away from children.
Parents and guardians are requested to always talk to your children about home fire safety and the risks involved with the use of fire ignition sources. Teach your children at an early age about the dangers of fire play, in an effort to prevent child injuries and fire deaths.
It is our humble plea to all parents and guardians to be mindful of fire safety during this extended school holidays.
