National Fire Authority (NFA) received a boost for its men’s and women’s Rugby teams after Ranjit Garments Mfg Pte Limited donated sporting equipment and sporting apparel to the team yesterday.
Equipment such as rugby jerseys, tackling bags, hit seals, rugby balls, water bottles, and cones, valued over $30,000, were received by the Staff and Chief Executive Officer of NFA at Walu Bay.
NFA CEO, Mr. Puamau Sowane, while receiving the equipment said that they are happy to receive the equipment and is thankful for the support by Ranjit Garments.
“The sporting equipment will greatly assist the players in their training session and I am sure it will be a big boost to our players to bring out the best in them,” he said.
“We are proud of our teams and applaud our Firefighters Habosi Vinaya and Onisi Ratave who are playing in the Fiji Drua team and Firefighters Tira Wilagi Patterson and Vuiviwa Naduvalo in the Fiji Sevens Team. Player Naduvalo made his debut and was awarded the best player of the tournament at the Singapore HSBC leg and it was a very proud moment for all of us,” he added.
CEO also added that apart from the Men’s Rugby competition, the NFA Fire Women’s team has won tournaments and these equipment will be well utilized in their training too.
Meanwhile, in his statement, Ranjit Garments Director, Mr Sachin Solanki, said that they are confident that this initiative will enable NFA to produce future rugby legends in the men’s and women’s teams.
“In NFA’s participation in the National Rugby competitions, this contribution of equipment will improve your outlook to compete at all levels of rugby”.
“It is indeed very heartening to see that four firefighters from NFA have joined the Fiji 7’s Rugby team and the Fiji Drua 15’s Rugby team”.
“We have come a long way in building this partnership with NFA and we will continue this journey into the future,” he said.
