NFA attends to home fire at Vusuya Nausori

National Fire Authority (NFA) attended to a fire incident that destroyed two residential homes in Nausori this afternoon.

At 3.11 pm, the Nausori Fire Station was alerted of a fire at Vusuya Road in Nausori and the fire crew immediately responded.

Upon arrival at the scene, the fire team saw a house fully engulfed in flames and fire had already spread to the next house which was about a metre away.

The Fire team quickly used two deliveries of water from the fire truck to extinguish the fire.

It is believed the fire had started from a four-bedroom house which was vacant at that time.  The Caretaker of the house told NFA that the owner was away overseas.

The second house which had three bedrooms and only about a meter away, was also destroyed by the fire.  Windy conditions at the time of the fire contributed to the fast spread of the fire to the second house.

There were no casualties as people inside the second house managed to escape to safety.

The NFA is urging all members of the public to take heed of all fire safety messages and ensure that your properties are fire-safe

NFA will soon be conducting its investigations to determine the cause of the fire.

Established by virtue of the National Fire Service Act, 1994 the National Fire Authority assumed responsibilities to provide fire services for the entire nation of Fiji in February 1995.
